Loraine Teat Crockett, 103, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at The Arbor. Loraine Teat Crockett was born May 10, 1905, in Kosciusko, MS, the daughter of Judge and Mrs. James A. Teat. The family later moved to Jackson, where Judge Teat practiced law. Mrs. Crockett attended the University of Mississippi for four years, where she was a member of Tri Delta Sorority and named a Beauty. She attended one year of law school. While living in Jackson, she met Thomas W. Crockett, who was from Rolling Fork, MS, and was employed by M. P. & L. and died in 1982. They were married on June 14, 1928, and had one son, Thomas Crockett, who is now a lawyer with Watkins Ludlam Winter and Stennis, P.A. and married to Cathy Wilkinson Crockett.

Mrs. Crockett devoted her life to her family and DAR, 75 Club, Colonial Dames, President of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Women, and Magna Carta. Mrs. Crockett is survived by her son, Thomas Crockett and his wife, Cathy W. Crockett; grandchildren, Julie Crockett, Thomas Crockett, III, Stephen Crockett, Andrew Crockett, and Robert Hendrix; and six great-grandchildren; her niece Loraine Bethany; and nephew Harry Smith.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stewpot Community Services, 1100 West Capitol St., Jackson, MS 39203, or the charity of choice. Graveside Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2008, at Greenwood Cemetery in Jackson. A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2008, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cathedral.
