Jerry R. Chapman, 39, a former Merrill resident, died July 12, in Hermistonh.
Chapman was born Nov. 3, 1941, in Klamath Falls. He graduated from Merrill High School in 1959, after which he entered the Army.
Mr. Chapman returned to Klamath Falls and was employed by the First National Bank of Oregon and was later transferred to La Grande. He and his family moved to Pendelton, where he went to work for First Federal Savings and Loan of Pendelton.
Mr. Chapman had lived in Hermiston for three years. He was founder of Pioneer Escrow there. The business had a branch office in Pendleton.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Home Builders Association and the Columbia Basin Board of Realtors.
Survivors include his wife Shirley, a son Paul and daughter Dana, all of Hermiston; his mother Mrs. Katie Chapman, Merrill; and a brother James Chapman, Klamath Falls.
