Son of John Nelson and Ann Jane (Young) Monteith. Twin brother of Margaret Florence Jane Meadows. Husband of May (Brown) Rennie Shaffer. Father of Mildred McGill, George Jr., Alfred, Myrle Watson Long and Marguerite McComb. Stepfather of Roscoe Shaffer and David Rennie.

"Gramps" was my uncle's grandfather, and he was 90 years old when I met him. I recall him fondly. He was a delightful old gentleman, full of energy even at his advanced age - he rode the merry-go-round with me at Cedar Point. :)
