Funeral services for Lou Ella Kirkwood Boyd, 97, of Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the Cooper Funeral Home of Athens with Gary Bowman and J.W. Adair officiating. Burial will follow in the Rome Cemetery. She passed away Saturday morning in Athens. Mrs. Boyd was born February 12, 1911, to her parents, John and Lou Askew Garner and was a lifelong resident of Henderson County. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Robinson Drug Store and May's Café. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mann Boyd; sons, Johnny Kirkwood and Don Kirkwood. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Dottie Kirkwood of Athens; special daughter, Peggy Adair and husband J.W. Adair of Athens; step-son, Larry Boyd of Rockwall; grandchildren, Darren and Chree Kirkwood of Spokane, Washington, Chris and Melanie Bettencourt of Athens, Donny Kirkwood of Athens, Nicole and Josh Martin of California, Maryland, Zab and Crystal Truesdell of Austin, Kevin and Misty Bowman of LaRue, Larry Dean Boyd of Rockwall, Laura L. Lee of Rockwall; numerous great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive condolences at the Cooper Funeral Home on Monday afternoon before the service from 1-2 p.m.
