Peter Weiler was born in Niedermendig (Kreis Mayen), Germany to Johann Georg and Elisabeth (Hoener) Weiler. Peter was one of 7 children. His siblings were: Jacob, Johann Friedrich ("Fritz"), Maria Anna, Gertrud, Barbara, and one baby (gender unknown). One of his sisters was married and they moved to Dueren and ran a Apothek. His brother Fritz was a tailor who lived in Niedermendig and was married to a midwife named Therese - they had four children: Karl, August, Josef, and one other.

On May 1, 1881, Peter married Maria Katharina Berg from Trimbs.

The couple lived at number 402 Post Strasse in Niedermendig. Peter was a butcher, who went farm to farm and did the slaughtering and butchering.

Peter and Maria had 11 children: Elisabeth, Peter, Maria Magdalena, Therese, Katharina, August, Johann "Jean", Wilhelm Friedrich, Elisabeth, Friedrich, and Anna Maria.

After his death, Peter was buried in the main cemetery in Niedermendig. His grave had been on the right side of the left pathway in - toward the middle of the cemetery. It is no longer there, as graves are recycled after 30 years in Germany.
