WHITEWATER-Lt. Col. Gilbert B. Arnold (Ret.), 48, former Whitewater resident, died yesterday in Brooks General Hospital, Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. Col. Arnold was a career Army officer and had served with the airborne forces in Europe in World War II and with the Medical Advisory Corps in Vietnam, returning to the United States from Vietnam in late 1964. He retired Jan. 18, 1968. Surviving are his wife, Barbara; three sons; his mother, Mrs. Laura B. Arnold, and a brother, Jean Arnold, both of Whitewater. His father, Ivy D. Arnold, predeceased him. His brother is an employee of Fisher Body in Janesville. Military services will be held in Texas.
