William Wallace Shanks, son of Joseph and Catherine Sims Shanks, married Henrietta "Etta" Temple on 11/21/1880 in Clark Cnty IL. They had 8 children.

"Wm. Shanks, son of Joseph Shanks, was born Oct. 17, 1855, and departed this life, Aug. 4, 1912, aged 56 years, 9 months and 17 days.

Mr. Shanks' death was due to injuries received in an accident by a runaway team. He left his home for his work Wednesday morning as usual, thinking little of his spiritual condition. He never returned to his home and family in consciousness and suffered untold misery until the angel came and welcomed him home.

He leaves to mourn a wife and six children, two boys and four girls, besides sisters, brothers and many other relatives and intimate friends.

Mr. Shanks was converted in the Presbyterian Church in 1893 and lived a devoted life until his Heavenly Father called him from work to reward.

He was an ideal husband, a loving father and is missed much at home, what is our loss is his gain."
