NELSON CRANDALL was born to Joseph and Mary Clarke Crandall. He was one of eight sons, seven of whom were able bodied young men who served their country as Union soldiers in the Civil war. As a child and teenager Nelson lived in Medina co OH and Farmington Jefferson co MN. In 1860 we find him living next door to brother Levi Crandall, on part of the family holdings. NELSON died at camp of disease in Chickamauga GA... Thank you for the diary of a brother of Nelson, Capt Rodolph Crandall, and to Crandall decendent Kenneth Crandall for helping to track it down.. Nelson was inducted on 30 Sep 1861 in Shelbyville,Blue Earth co MN. He reenlisted when his term was finished. His record has his surname misspelled as CRONDALL. HE DIED JAN 15 buried JAN 18 1864. His record states he was 22 years old when he was inducted so he was less than 26 when he died
