She was born Sadie Lee Dimmitt to John Henry and Florence D. (Wilson) Dimmitt on August 2, 1878 in Old Shawneetown, Illinois. She was the oldest of seven children, sister: Laura May Dimmitt, brothers: Henry Clinton Dimmitt, John Edward Dimmitt, Aaron W. Dimmitt, George Roy Dimmitt, and William W. Dimmitt. She married Henry Hargraves Cissell and from this union four children were born. William B. Cissell, Elvia G. (Cissell) Williams, Louis E. Cissell, and Sadie H. (Cissell) Ratliff. She departed this life on May 14, 1934 at the age of 56 and was laid to eternal rest in New Crown Cemetery in Indianapolis.
