Married to Elizabeth May "Lizzie" (McCammon) Akers on August 10, 1912. Father of Alma, Roy Alva, Mary Jane, Clarence Edward, Dorothy Maxine, Mildred Evelyn, Lex Jr., Walter Homer and Ralph Eugene Akers.

OBITUARY:

Lex Akers

Lex Akers, 93, Sullivan, died at 1:10 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, 1988, at Miller's Merry Manor.

He was born Jan. 5, 1895, in Sullivan County, to George and Mary Hopewell Akers. He was a retired coal miner.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lizzie May Akers, who died in 1969.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Akers, Dorothy Wall and Mildred Walters, all of Sullivan; three sons, Walter Akers and Clarence Akers, both of Gary, and Lex Akers, Jr., Shelburn; 28 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Alexander Funeral Home with the Rev. Willis Ross officiating. Burial is in Little Flock Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Saturday.
