MARY KUPFERLE (1916-2003)

Reverend Mary Kupferle [born in 1916 and passed on April 17, 2003) was ordained in 1959 and served Unity churches in St. Louis, Missouri; Louisville, Kentucky; Santa Barbara, California; and Lake Worth, Florida. After nearly 20 years, she retired from Unity of Delray Beach in Florida in 1984.

Mary was the author of six Unity books and was a frequent contributor to Daily Word. Her first article appeared in Weekly Unity in 1944. It is estimated she wrote more than 200 articles and poems for Unity Magazine, Daily Word, and other publications. The most recent was Trust in the Goodness of God, published in 2000.

Mary was born in Belleville, Illinois, and joined Unity in 1935. She was very active in the Association of Unity Churches, including a term as president in 1967-68 and a member of the Board of Trustees, 1964-67.

In a newspaper article published in 1975, Mary said, "My greatest blessings, joys, fulfillments, and challenges have come as a result of being in the ministry. I wouldn't change it for any other profession in the world. The most gratifying thing I can do, and the greatest contribution I can make, is in helping people."

A memorial service will be held at Unity of Delray Beach, Thursday, May 1, at 11 a.m.
