Ellis F. Pickering, 55, died suddenly at 6:15 a.m. Sunday at his home in Murchison.
He was a life-long resident of Henderson County, and was born in Murchison November 29, 1907. He worked for E.W. Hable Construction Co. as a heavy machinery operator. He and Miss Patsy Griffin were married on November 20, 1939.
Mr. Pickering is survived by his wife, one son, Paul Ray Pickering of Garland; two brothers, Arch Pickering of Fresno, California and Raymond Pickering of Erghil, Turkey; two sisters, Mrs. Vernon Weatherly of Murchison and Mrs. Kate Splawn of Brownsboro; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Murchison First Baptist Church with the Rev. Olin Cantrell and the Rev. Fred Smith officiating. Burial was in Red Hill Cemetery with Carroll and Lehr in charge.
