Gladys Fanning, 85, Friendship Haven, died Wednesday evening at Tompkins Memorial Health Center Following a short illness.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Chapel on the Hill, Friendship Haven, with the Rev. Ron Kitterman, chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is after 1 p.m. Monday until service time at the Chapel on the Hill.
Survivors include her husband, Leo; sons, the Rev. Allen Fanning, Shelbyville, Ill., Robert Fanning, Pittsburgh, Penn., and the Rev. David Fanning, San Leandro, Calif.; daughters, Genie Grimm, Minneapolis, Minn., and Mary Wright, Nevada; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Gladys Roberts was born at Rolfe. She attended school in Rolfe and graduated from Des Moines Township High School near Rolfe. She graduated from the Iowa State Teacher's College at Cedar Falls. In 1927, she married Leo Fanning at Rolfe. They farmed in northwest Iowa, where she worked as a lab technician at the National Animal Disease Laboratory in Ames from 1962 to 1971. They moved to Fort Dodge from Ames in 1977 and lived at Friendship Haven.
