Dorothy was born Nov. 29, 1922, near Greensboro, N.C., to George and Sarah Harris. She grew up in Charlotte, N.C., served in the Navy as a WAVE in World War II, and graduated cum laude from LSU in New Orleans, La. She married H.W. "Jack" Cook, May 3, 1953. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, two brothers and one granddaughter.
Survivors: Her husband of 54 years, Jack; stepsons and their wives, Jimmy and Peggy Cook of Joshua, Jerrell and Jan Cook of Palo Pinto, and Charlie and Debbie Cook of Roanoke; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Hilda Curtis of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; sister-in-law, Zelda Harris of Charlotte, N.C.; several nieces and nephews; and a world of friends.
