SHERMAN - Graveside services for Charles W. Burch, 79, of Sherman will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008 at the West Hill Cemetery in Sherman. Chaplain John Cocoris will officiate. Services are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.
Charles passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008 at Hilltop Haven Nursing Center in Gunter.
He was born on Aug. 5, 1929, in Anna, the son of Steward A. and Gladys Compton Burch. After graduation from Anna High School, he came to Sherman and began working at the Merchants and Planters National Bank. He served in the U.S. Army, and in 1949 returned to Sherman and resumed banking. He retired in 1985. Charles married Alta Lee Blackwell on Dec. 22, 1956 in Sherman. He always enjoyed helping others in need. He was a member of the Church of Christ Church.
Charles is survived by his wife Alta Burch of Sherman; sons Mike Burch and wife Shannon of Garland, Larry Burch and wife Diane of Edmond, Okla. and Philip Burch and wife Larissa of Gordonville; grandsons Anthony Burch of Gordonville Marc Burch of Garland, and Jamison Burch of Gordonville; and granddaughter Molly Burch of Garland. He is also survived by his mother Gladys Burch of McKinney, and a host of friends and other family.
Charles was preceded in death by his father Steward A. Burch and his brother Wallace Burch.
Pallbearers will be Mike Burch, Larry Burch, Philip Burch, Anthony Burch, Marc Burch, Jamison Burch and Welby Pleasant.
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Alzheimers Association at 4144 N. Central Expressway Ste. 750 Dallas, TX 75204
