He was a charter member and former commander of the American Legion Post No. 7 He was also past president of Lexington Lions Club and past worship master of Lexington Masonic Lodge No. 152.
He was county chairman of the American Red Cross during World War II and a former member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Lexington.
He died at the VA hospital in Fayetteville, NC.
