Arthur "Gary" Brown went to be with his Lord and savior after a long battle with cancer.

He was at home, surrounded by the love of family and friends. Gary was born in Hialeah, Florida to Arthur and Juanita Brown.

Gary served his county in the US Navy. He was qualified in submarines, underwater demolition team and Seals. After leaving the Navy, he worked with his father as a carpenter.

He was ordained as a minister in 1976 and served as pastor of the Southside Baptist Church of Sun City Florida for 12 years. In 1982, he moved to the west and worked as a journeyman electrician in Salida and Colorado Springs. He retired in 2006.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Barb of Colorado Springs; mother, Juanita Brown and brother, Larry Brown of Wimauma, Florida; three sons: Larry Brown of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Gary "Butch" Brown of Canon City Colorado, Clint David Brown of Peyton, Colorado and six beautiful grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Pikes Peak Hospice for their caring and compassionate care during his final months.

Throughout his life, Gary loved the outdoors. He and Barb took many trips, backpacking, rock climbing, camping and skiing. He loved fly fishing, riding his mountain bike and everything about Colorado. He was happiest in the mountains or on his motorcycle. SFFS.

Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Gary's life at 10:00 a.m. on August 27th at Nancy Lewis Park in Colorado. Memorial service and burial will follow at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
