Violet Baker, 101, Cherryvale, Kansas, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at Gallatin Rest Home, in Bozeman, Montana.

She was born Aug. 17, 1907, northeast of Cherryvale, Kansas, to William and Sarah Frances (Harp) Ringle.

She graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1925.

She married Carl C. Baker on June 5, 1927, in Nowata, Oklahoma. He died in April 1951.

She retired from Four County Mental Health Center, Independence, in 1976.

She was a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Judith Hykes, Livingston, MT; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Baker; two brothers, Jack Fitch and Ray William Ringle; and seven sisters, Susie Nicholson, Florence Couk, Goldie Sesher, Ketha Keller, Theresa Matthews, Stella Knoles and Evelyn Gravel.

Funeral will be at Fairview Cemetery, Cherryvale, Kansas.

Contributions to Cherryvale Museum or Cherryvale Public Library may be made in care of the funeral home.

Potts Chapel, Cherryvale, KS is in charge of arrangements.
