Mr. Noel W. Sweeten, 70, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, died July 5, 2008, in North Little Rock. He was born December 3, 1937 in El Centro, Calif., to William Lenley and Esther (Cheatwood) Sweeten.
Mr. Sweeten enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 17 and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before retiring after 34 years of service.
He saw combat in Vietnam as a bombardier/navigator in the B-52 aircraft, he was decorated with the Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster and fourteen Air Medals.
Mr. Sweeten earned a Masters Degree in Liberal Arts at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.
An amateur photographer, he leaves behind a legacy of cherished photographic memories for his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Sweeten was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Betty Payne; his niece Brenda (Payne) Best; and his brother-in-law, Larry Patriquin.
He is survived by his sister, Beverly Patriquin of Altus, Okla.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Corinne and Walter Romanko, of Austin, Texas, Yvonne Sweeten and Jeff Nelson of Henderson, Nev., and Monica and Rick Martin of Hot Springs Village; one son, Brian Sweeten of Hot Springs; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
