Phyllis R. Affolder, 75, 1618 W. Monroe St., died this morning in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, after having been ill for several months. She was born on July 6, 1918 in Allen County and married Vernon W. "Bun" Affolder on October 19, 1941. He survives.
She worked at Decatur's McDonald's Restaurant since it opened 17 years ago and was the last original employee. She was also a former employee of Haugk Real Estate in Decatur and an avid golfer who won Adams County and Decatur championships several times. She was a member of Antioch Lutheran Church, Hoagland, and Decatur Women's Golf League.
Other survivors are two daughters: Sheri L. Affolder, Ypsilanti, Michigan and LuAnn Porter, Indianapolis; one brother, Robert Houk, Memphis, Tennessee; and one sister, Mrs. Ralph (Lois) Grotrian, Greentown, Indiana.
One brother, Harry Houk, is deceased.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Zwick-Sefton and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, with Rev. Dale E. Larson officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the Ronald McDonald House in Indianapolis or her church.
