John is the son of Herschel C. and Gladys Lucille (Heine) Bird. He married Anna Marie Ratjazyk on April 11, 1953, in Scheller, IL. Their children: Victoria Lynn (Goldman), Marlin Edward, Joseph Dwain and Michelle Ann Bird. John was a mine operator for Peabody Coal Co.
