Harry W. Acheson was a son of Thomas Weir Acheson and Katherine Leavitt Hooker. He was a grandson of Gen. Thomas Acheson and Elizabeth Cummins and a great-grandson of George Acheson and Elizabeth Weir. Dr. Acheson was a veterinarian and helped create the Board of Veterinarians in DC and served on the board until his death in 1918, an apparent suicide. He taught at Georgetown University in DC.

Dr. Acheson's second wife is buried in Catlett, VA. Mortimer Acheson bought the plot where Jane was to be buried so there was no room for her in Oak Hill
