Myra Rose (Johnson) Davis was the sixth of eleven children born to the late Elder Charles Thornton and Gertrude (Hicks) Johnson. At an early age, Myra was baptized and faithfully attended and served at the Church of God in Christ in Decatur, IL. She was a product of the Decatur Public Schools, graduating from Stephen Decatur High School in 1942. After graduation, she enrolled in the Homer G. Phillips Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO, where she became a Registered Nurse following her graduation in 1946.

Myra continued her post-graduate education at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. In September, 1946 she began her professional career at Florence Crittendon Hospital. For over 36 years she worked at various hospitals, retiring as an Administrator with Comprehensive Health Services of Detroit in 1982.

Myra was joined in holy matrimony with Jesse M. Davis on May 5, 1948. This union was blessed with two children and endured forty-five years.

Myra was very active in the church. After joining her husband's church (the Second Baptist Church of Detroit), Myra recommitted her life to Christ and was baptized by Rev. A.A. Banks, Jr. She and her family later moved their membership to Renaissance Baptist in 1982. Myra was a member of the committee that actually filed the Articles of Incorporation of the Renaissance Baptist Church in Lansing, MI. At Renaissance, she served in various capacities until her health failed. Although very active in the church, she maintained a humble and prayerful spirit in all her undertakings.

Myra was active in various professional and community organizations such as the Mahoney Professional Nurses and the American Red Cross, and a was a life member of the NAACP and Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc.

At the time of her passing, she left to celebrate her life her husband, son, daughter, 4 grandchildren, two sisters, one brother, 8 sisters-in-law, 4 brothers-in-law, one aunt, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.
Cause of death: Septic Shock.
