As reported by the North Vernon Sun in the April 30, 2019 "100 yrs ago" Section: She was one of the first female school teachers in Jennings County. She taught at Vernon and at a school called Solomon's Temple on the banks of Coffee Creek near Paris Crossing. Her collection of poetry "On the Banks of the Ohio" was published in 1823. The epitaph on her tombstone at the Coffee Creek Baptist Church Cemetery reads "She has done what she could"
