Wayne William Lofgren, 77, died Aug. 3, 2007, at Providence Alaska Medical Center. His family conducted a private service.

Wayne was born April 9, 1930, in Isle, Minn., to William and Anna Lofgren. He graduated from Isle High School. Wayne married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen, on June 3, 1950, in Isle. Wayne and Kathleen came to Alaska in the early 1950s and raised their family in Anchorage and Palmer. On arrival in Alaska, Wayne worked in construction and for Anchorage Funeral Home before going into business for himself, owning and operating Wayne's Furniture, KandW Trucking, Alaska Furniture Warehouse, Associated Buying Co., Tok Distributing, Far North Air, Alaska Direct Transport and Alaska Direct Bus Line. Wayne loved working in transportation and helping people. When he was in Kona, Hawaii, he loved riding on his scooter and greeting people everywhere he went. He will be missed by all.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathleen; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Charlie Bowers of Anchorage; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Jody Lofgren, of Wasilla; daughter and partner, Pam Combs and Tom Hooks of Palmer; and son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Velda Lofgren of Anchorage; grandchildren, Nathan Combs of Palmer, Amanda Combs of Anchorage and Erik, Samuel and James Lofgren of Wasilla; great-grandson, Jeremiah Combs of Palmer; sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Lennart Augustsson of Anchorage; and brother, Jerome Lofgren of Washington.
