Dalia Alexandra Church, age 90, a longtime resident of Hoquiam, died August 15, 2008, at her home in Hoquiam. Mrs. Church was born January 1, 1918, in Piteä, Sweden.

At age 11, she immigrated to the United States by ship, and then traveled cross country to Hoquiam by train.

In 1937, she graduated from Hoquiam High School as Valedictorian.

At the end of World War II, she met Lawrence Robert Church. They were married June 21, 1945.

For over 52 years, she had worked at Summerville Pharmacy, Crown Drug and the Medicine Shoppe, from which she retired in 2000.

She was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband Bob. In later years, she served as a volunteer at the Hoquiam Food Bank.

Dalia is survived by two sons, Terry Church of Enumclaw and Richard Church of Kent; a brother, Ben Flodstrom; two grandsons, Erik and Chris, two great-grandsons, Austin and Anthony. Her husband Lawrence Robert Church and two brothers, Douglas and Tage Flodstrom preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, August 22, 2008, at the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam. Interment will follow at Hoquiam's Sunset Memorial Park.

A reception for friends and family will be held at the Hoquiam Senior Center.
