Roy Kenneth "Red Bean," Bowen, 85, of Chelsea Street, Sistersville, W.Va., died August 2, 2008, in Camden Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, W.Va.

He was born January 25, 1923, in Sistersville, a son of the late Ross and Dell Hall Bowen. Mr. Bowen was a WWII Navy veteran, after which he returned to the place he loved; a 35 year employee of Columbia Gas; the former owner and operator of the Union 76 Station and Grocery Store at Porters Falls, W.Va. for 32 years; and he enjoyed community service as a Scout Master and later as an active member of the Sistersville Lions Club. He was awarded "Lion of the Year" three times.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mearldean Anderson Bowen; brothers, Lewis and Paul Bowen; and sisters, Bertha Bowen, Ruby Miller and Florence Moellendick.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Geneva A. Dragovich Bowen; daughters , Donna (John) Wood of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Carol Lasure of Fairmont, W.Va. and Patricia Masters of Miami, Fla.; grandchildren, Cathy, Mike, Nick, Brooke, Todd and Jill; and nine great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Myers Funeral Home, Sistersville, on Monday, August 4, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM where services will be held on Tuesday, at 11:00 AM with James Willison officiating. Burial will follow in Paden Memorial Gardens, Paden City, W.Va.
