LANCASTER, S.C. — Mrs. Ferne Pruette Padgett, 93, of 1004 Hardin St., formerly of Boiling Springs, died Thursday, March 11, 2004, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Boiling Springs, a daughter of the late R. Lander and Ollie Bridges Pruette. She retired from Cone Mills, Cliffside Plant. She was a graduate of Cliffside High School, attended Gardner-Webb College and graduated from Cecils Business College. She was a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Senior Adult Choir and Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was a member and past regent of Flint Hill Chapter NSDAR, Lucille Wall Music Club, Philsonian Book Club, and Boiling Springs Homemakers Club. She served as organist at Cliffside Baptist Church for 30 years and also served as organist at Sharon United Methodist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Padgett.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Bill Biggerstaff of Lancaster, S.C.; grandchildren, Blair Biggerstaff and wife, Laura, Scott Biggerstaff and wife, Sue, and Elizabeth Harris; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Boiling Springs Baptist Church, with Dr. Carroll Page officiating.
Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.
