John F. "Jack" Berry, 77, Vermillion,
Kansas, passed away on Tuesday,
August 19, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Berry farmed until 1942, the he
owned and operated a grocery store
in Fosteria, Kansas until 1957. He
later worked at the Kansas State
University Student Union at Man-
hattan, Kansas until 1959 when he
moved to Vermillion. He was the
custodian at the Vermillion school
from 1959 until he retired in 1973.
He was born on December 28, 1908
near Olsburg, Kansas, the son of
John and Myrtle Walker Berry. Mr.
Berry was a member of he United
Methodist Church in Vermillion. He
was married to Lucile Robinson on
April 2, 1934 at Junction City, Kansas
She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters
Mrs. Virginia Stowell, Manhattan and
Mrs. Marjorie Worden, Stanton, Mich;
four sons, Ed Berry, Mildland, Texas,
Roger Berry, Annandale, Virginia,
Clayton Berry, with the Navy, Keith
Berry, Madrid, Iowa; a sister, Mrs.
Delores Case of Independence, Mo.;
two brothers, Frank Berry, Yakima,
Wash, and William Berry, Fruitland,
Oregon; 19 grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on
Saturday at the United Methodist
Church in Vermillion and burial in
the King Cemetery southwest of
Fosteria, Kansas.
