Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Marie G. Bennett passed away July 13, 1997, at her home in Provo.

She was born January 20, 1905 in Salt Lake City to Thomas H. and Amanda Charlotte Jacobson Gleason. She married Sterling John Bennett of Meadow, Utah on June 25, 1924. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 5, 1933.

Marie graduated in Elementary Education from BYU in 1948 with her daughter and received her B.S. degree. She taught one year in Meadow and 26 years in the Alpine School District. She was a member of the NEA, Delta Kappa Gamma, AAUW and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. A faithful member of the LDS Church, she taught the Gospel Doctrine class for many years.

She was dearly loved by her children, Beth (Robert) Willardson, Spokane, Wash.; and John (Marilyn) Bennett, North Salt Lake; seven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Leah Gleason and Leona Besendorfer, and brother-in-law, Vaun Bennett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sterling; sisters, Jennie Gleason and Katherine Gardner and brother, Anton J. Gleason.

Marie was admired and loved by many friends and neighbors.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 18, 1997, at 11 a.m., at the Edgemont 5th Ward Chapel, 350 East 2950 North, Provo. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center St. and Friday morning at the ward chapel one hour prior to services. Interment: Provo City Cemetery.
