Mason, Easter Star. A Lawyer and a Judge. In 1930, he was still working as the District Clerk in the Rockwall County court house. Married Kate Austin around 1877. They were the parents of: Edna Austin, Kate (Married name Harp), James Austin, Maggie D. Austin, Annie J. Austin, Sallie O. Austin and Stella Austin.

Terrell Tribune, June 30, 1937- "Judge J. I. Austin (Newspaper error) died in Rockwall last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Walker & son, James attended the funeral. Mr. Walker was a nephew."
