Christina is the daughter of Christian Martin & Elizabeth (Kiser) Strole. She married Ambrose Huffman on August 8, 1831 in Page County, Virginia.

Christina Strole was the child of a captured Hessian soldier and the daughter of the family who purchased his indenture. The Strole and Kiser families had known each other back in Germany. Her grandfather Michael Kiser fought for the Revolution in Capt. Philip Krick's 8th Company, 4th PA Battalion. Christina married Ambrose Huffman on August 8. 1831. According to her great great granddaughter Grace M. Smith, they were married near her parent's home on Cub Run, between Newport and Grove Hill, VA, on a bridge spanning Cub Run creek. An account written by Christina's son James Huffman confirmed that they were married at that location, although he did not mention the bridge. Christina and Ambrose first lived about one mile north of Alma Bridge, in Page Co., VA on land that was inherited from Ambrose's family. They sold that farm to Charles C. Dovel in 1845 and bought another farm 12 miles south on Naked Creek. This farm was two and half miles up the creek from the South Fork of the Shenandoah River and included a house, barn, orchard, sawmill, and mill race. It became known as Huffman's Mill.
Christina had 10 children, 6 boys and 4 girls. One boy, William "Willie," died of measles when he was about 10 months old just before they moved to Naked Creek in 1845. In 1861 two of her sons, David W. and James, enlisted in the Riverton Invincibles, Co. I, 10th VA Infantry. Both survived the war. James wrote an autobiography*, from which most of this information about Christina comes. He wrote the following tribute to her " to say she was a dutiful devoted wife and a kind and loving mother does not half-way express it. Though we got a licking sometimes, it was not her fault but ours. Even then, we did not get justice. To estimate the worth of a good and true Christian mother is incomprehensible."
Christina became a widow in 1862 when Ambrose died of typhoid fever. She remained at Huffman's Mill until her old age, when she moved in with her daughter Rebecca Huffman Carrier who also lived along Naked Creek. Christina died at age 86. Her son James wrote " if she had not been taken from her home, I think she would have been a centenarian."
