Obituary - Coram- In the death of Mrs. Catherine Elsebough, of 113 Medford avenue, Patchogue, on October 26, the Coram church loses one of its oldest and most devoted members. She came to Coram from her home in Brooklyn more than sixty years ago and raised a large family; five daughters and two sons. She was a devoted Christian and loving mother, a kind and sympathetic friend and neighbor, ever ready to help those who needed assistance, and one whose blessed influence will ever remain with her loved ones who mourn her loss.
The funeral was held in the Coram M.E. Church on October 28, with Rev. Arthur Ball of Plainville, Conn., a former pastor, assisted by Rev. G. Brown, of Patchogue, and Rev. E.E. Davis of Coram. The pallbearers were six of her grandsons, Elroy Smith, Harry Smith, Walter and Harold Elsebough, Joseph Brandt, and William Bolstridge. Mrs. J. Grant Smith and Miss Emma Smith of Center Moriches sang a beautiful duet by the special request of the deceased and Mrs. William C. Koschara played familiar hymns during part of the service. The casket and altar were filled with beautiful flowers from relatives and friends who loved to honor her.
Mrs. Elsebough was educated at Mt. Vincent and lived in Brooklyn before her marriage to the late John Elsebough. One of her friends remarked, "Everyone speaks well of her," a wonderful tribute to her character.
