This information from Alan R. Ford: CHARLES ALBERT BISHOP was the youngest son of Jonathan S. Bishop and Polly Ray Ketchum Bishop. According to HISTORY OF TAMA COUNTY IOWA, CHAPTER XXV, CRYSTAL TOWNSHIP, He was born on August 26, 1852 in Constantine, St. Joseph county, Michigan. In 1853, the family moved to White Pigeon, Michigan, where his sister, Harriet Emma (Bishop) Babcock was born in November of 1854. On April 24, 1855 they departed White Pigeon with three yoke of oxen and one yoke of cows to move to Iowa. His maternal Uncle, ROBERT SCOTT RAY was already living in Tama County when they arrived there on June 10, 1855. They settled on the east half of the northeast quarter of section 31 of Crystal township, Tama County, Iowa. The family lived in the wagons until fall. Another Sister, Laura A. Bishop was born in Iowa in July 1860, but survived only 8 days.

Charles attended district schools of Crystal township, and the High School of Toledo (Iowa). The 1860 Census shows the family (Jonathan, Polly, Nancy Ketchum, John B. M., Charles and Harriet) living in Crystal Township. When his father, Jonathan, enlisted in the 28th Iowa, JACOB KNIGHT (10 MAY 1839 Ohio) was employed to take care of the family and farm. Jacob Married Charles' half-sister, NANCY J. KETCHUM KNIGHT (24 Apr 1842), on 31 December 1862. Charles' mother, Polly, died at their home on August 18, 1863 and his father, Jonathan, died twenty days later at Transylvania Landing, Louisiana.

In 1875 Charles purchased a farm of section 32 of Crystal township where in 1882 he erected on it a frame residence. On February 2, 1876, Charles married Miss Margaret (Maggie) Watt, born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania on 27 JAN 1852, the daughter of Joseph Watt and Elizabeth (CHAMBERS) Watt. The marriage produced five sons; Frank R. Bishop (1877), Arthur A. Bishop (ABT JAN 1880), Joseph L. Bishop (1883), John Nelson Bishop (15 Jan 1885) and Robert Harvey Bishop (1890).

Charles' wife Margaret Watt Bishop (#28784705) and her twin Brother, Richard Watt, were born on January 27, 1852 in Franklin, Westmorland County, Pennsylvania, USA to Joseph and Elizabeth (CHAMBERS) Watt. I believe her father is Joseph Watt (#31862872).
