Born October 28, 1914, on a farm southwest of St. Benedict, Kan., the son of George and Elizabeth Engelken Stallbaumer, he farmed and drove for Van Holthaus Trucking in his early years. Between 1942 and 1946, he served with the U.S. Army. He then worked several years for Droge Construction Co. In 1956, he became a substitue mail carrier, working for the postal service for 27 years.
Mr. Stallbaumer was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Benedict, and the Earle W. Taylor American Legion Post No. 21, Seneca. He helped organize the Rural Water District No. 3, serving on its board since 1971.
He is survived by four brothers, Alfred Stallbaumer of the home, Cyril Stallbaumer, Raymond Stallbaumer and Emmett Stallbaumer, Seneca; three sisters, Minnie Haug, of the home, Leona Nolte, Atchison and Rita Broxterman, Baileyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Hubert Stallbaumer and Cletus Stallbaumer.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Benedict, with burial in the church cemetery.
