Rose M. Backhaus, 69, of the town of Scott, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2008, at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee.
She was born on March 2, 1939, in Sheboygan, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Kirsten) Ernst, and on May 16, 1959, she was united in marriage to Harold Backhaus at St. Michael's Catholic Church in St. Michaels.
Rose will fondly be remembered for her love of gardening, woodworking and line dancing. She will be deeply missed by her husband, her family, her canine companion, Lightening and by all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Harold.
Five children, Donald (Peggy) Backhaus of Merrill, Dennis Backhaus (special friend, Leslie Troedel) of Slinger, Brenda (Dave) Eisentraut and Bonnie (Dan) Heidemann both of Waldo and Betty (Bob) Meyer of Cascade.
A brother, David (Scarlet) Ernst of Sheboygan.
Two sisters, Shirley Kirsch of Campbellsport and Beverly (Otto) Bartelt of New Fane.
A sister-in-law, Kathy Ernst of Fredonia, 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by an infant son, Harold and a brother, Martin Ernst.
