It seems the family joined a wagon train made up of relatives and migrated to Ellis County, Texas, about the year 1890, where they lived near Venus. A short time later Mr. Keeton moved to Washita County, OK, his wife having departed this life, to live with his daughter, Mattie Rigney, and her family near Cordell in Washita County. It was there he passed from this life during an epidemic in 1901. His interment was at Sod Cemetery, northwest of Cordell. Many years later a handmade grave marker was placed at Sod Cemetery by his granddaughter, Pearl Latimer.
