Mrs. Brennen also worked as a clerk for the California Department of Forestry for a short time during WWII. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star from 1917 to the present, and a member of the Oro Fino Rebekah Lodge for a number of years. She was a charter member of the Middletown luncheon Club and a long time member of the Guenoc Grange.
Mrs. Brennen was an accomplished musician and played the piano and organ for he Middletown Community Church on a regular basis from 1938 until semi retirement in 1965. She continued to serve as a back up musician for the church after her retirement and was a member of the church choir for many years.
