BROOKLET -- Cleo Motes Akins, 83, died Tuesday morning in Bulloch Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
The Banks County native had been living in Bulloch County most of her life, was retired from J & J Fabrics, and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Fostine and James R. Davis, Brooklet; a son and daughter-in-law, Rawdon L. and Carolyn T. Akins, Statesboro; a brother, Lloyd J. Motes, Metter; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Hodges-Turner Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dorsey Horton officiating, assisted by the Rev. Mike Howard. Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Jim Davis, Ray Davis, Don Davis, Ted Davis, Lance Hodges and Tim Moore.
Visitation will begin today at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Bulloch County Chapter of the American Cancer Society or the Bethel Baptist Church.
