Services for S.T. Pickens, 76, will be at noon Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Mt. Olive Cemetery with the Rev. E.J. Toles, the Rev. Everisto Chikanga and the Rev. Theodore Anderson officiating. Interment will be at Hickory Cemetery under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.

Born on Oct. 15, 1928, in Newport, Okla., to Oscar and Pearlie Anderson Pickens, he died on March 18 2005, in Ardmore. He was preceded in death by a son, Major Grant; brothers, Johnnie and Artie; and sisters, Yvonne, Mae Doris and Shirley Carter. A lifelong resident of this area, S.T. worked as a service station attendant for Kittrell Service Station for 25 years and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and Square JB Club. He enjoyed playing dominoes with his friends.

He and Jennie Roberts were married in May of 1952, in Gainesville, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; daughters, Linda Petties and Janet Williamson and husband, Anthony, Ardmore; sons, Jimmy Brown and wife, Alice, and Hank Kittrell and wife, Becky J., also Ardmore; brothers, Oscar Pickens Jr. and wife, Blanche, Tulsa, Alvin Pickens and wife, Emil, and Vernell Pickens and wife, Tammera, all of Gary, Ind., Donnie Pickens and wife, Gloria, Ardmore; sisters, Olivia Jackson and husband, Lloyd, Tulsa, Flora Brown, Wichita Falls, Texas; brother-in-law, L.D. Shannon, and daughter-in-law, Margie Grant, both of Ardmore; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Bearers will be Randy Jackson, James Jackson, David Shannon, L.D. Shannon Jr., Phil Pickens, Taron Abram and Dimond Brown. Honorary bearers area Alva Mims, Miles Douglass, Edward Abram, I.G. Godwin, Earl Shannon, Arville Pickens and J.T. Anderson.
