Eileen had 90 active years of life, full of laughter and the love of everyone who met her. Born in Butte, Montana, she moved to California with her widowed father at age 12, driving the 1930 Ford her non-driving father had bought for the trip. She settled in Oakland and graduated from Holy Names High School. At the age of 20 she married her neighborhood sweetheart, Thor Anderson. She had one daughter, Carol. She loved to sing. As a member of the Oakland Mother Singers, she made music and lifelong friends and also harmonized in an award-winning women's barbershop quartet. Husband Thor died in 1999. Carol and husband John Sherrill welcomed her into their home in Danville. She blended happily into their life, making friends of their friends with her joyful outlook, humor and loving thoughtfulness. She was a generous and fun "Grammie" and "GG" to her four grandchildren, their spouses, and her nine great grandchildren: Christopher and Lucy Sherrill (Grace, Amalia); Colin and Amber Sherrill (Gillian, Camille); Alison and Greg King (Graham, Griffin, Andrew); Jennifer and Chris Dodge (Bennett, Ainsley). She died of ovarian cancer, after 10 years of remission and vigorous health. Her toast to the gathered family at her recent birthday: "I hope you all enjoy as happy a 90th birthday as I have had." She leaves many broken hearts. Memorial mass: Friday, May 16, 10:30 a.m., St. Isidore's Catholic Church, 440 La Gonda Way, Danville.
