OBITUARY:

Dorothy L. Pirtle

Dorothy L. Pirtle, 90, Dugger, died at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at Sullivan County Community Hospital.

She was born Sept. 23, 1910, in Sullivan County to John and Clara Robertson Booker.

The retired Dugger postal clerk was a member of the Shiloh Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ellard Cleveland, who died in 1949, and her second husband, Hosea Pirtle, who died in 1960.

Survivors include two daughters, Eileen Coen, Plainfield, and Norma Phegley, Oaktown; one brother, Delmas Booker, Sullivan; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Newkirk Funeral Home, Dugger, with Brother J.B. Smith officiating. Burial will be at Woodward Cemetery near Dugger. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Wednesday.
