MARY (ADAMS) ALLGOOD

─═════════ ✿ڰۣڿ✿ Biography ✿ڰۣڿ✿ ═════════─

Mary Adams was born on Saturday, 6 March 1847, in Indiana. His father, William, was 37 and his mother, Mary, was 36.

At the age of 20, Mary married 22-year-old Edmond Allgood. They were married on 23 November 1867, in Washington County, Indiana. Their marriage record is located in Book H, Page 32 of the Index to Marriage Records 1850-1920.

Mary and Edmond began their family immediately. Their first child, John, was born on 17 August 1868, in Washington County, Indiana. Another son, Rufus, would follow on 9 July 1870. Rufus was also born in Washington County. At the age of 24, Mary would welcome her first daughter, Alice, who was born on 16 July 1872. Mary and Edmond would have five more children after Alice. They were: Dovie, born 22 April 1874; Charles, born 21 September 1877; Eva, born 4 September 1880; a son, Ora, born 29 July 1883 and Elizabeth, born 26 May 1886. By the time of Eva's birth in 1880, the family was living in Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana.

Mary's life was cut short in the midst of watching her children grow up and begin creating lives for themselves. Mary would never see her first grandchild, who was born seven months after her death. Sadly, Mary left behind babies of her own. The youngest, Elizabeth, was just three years old. Mary passed away on 14 November 1889, leaving behind her husband of 21 years. She was just 42 years old at the time of her passing. She died of Typhoid Fever. This horrible disease would also claim the lives of two of his daughters. Dovie, at the age of 20, died on 19 August 1894 and Alice, at the age of 24, died on 31 October 1896.
