Betty Faye (Anderson) Hughes, 74, of Sanger passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 in Denton.
She was born on Dec. 9, 1933 in Wichita Falls to Lee Crawford and Eva Elizabeth (Jack) Anderson. She received her BA degree from the University of North Texas, and she received her masters degree from Texas Woman's University. She managed the Rialto and State Theatres in Denison, managed the Campus Movie Theatre in Denton. She worked as a secretary for the Ground and maintenance department at the University of North Texas before becoming the general manager of the Hughes Family Partners. On Nov. 12, 1988, she married Gene A. Hughes in Denton. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sanger.
Visitation for Mrs. Hughes will be held from 6 -8 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Coker Funeral Home, 403 Pecan St., Sanger. Funeral services will be held at the First United Baptist Church, 115 N. 5th St., Sanger with Bro. Jon Eckstein officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Lorenzo Rios, Tim Baker, Spanky Rios, Shawn Pemberton, Richard Anderson, and Dale Dorvdant. Interment will follow at the Sanger Cemetery.
Mrs. Hughes is survived by stepdaughters, Greta Hughes Miller of Sanger and Diane Hughes Barrentine of Dallas; brother, Billy Dean Anderson of Oletha; sister-in-law, Melba Anderson of Colbert, Okla.; nieces, Carolyn Mitchell of Howe, Linda Pemberton of Denton, Charlotte Talbut of Sachse, and Lauri Anderson of San Juan Capestrona, Calif.; nephew, Richard Anderson of Oletha; several great nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends. Her husband, Gene, preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 2000.
Memorial may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Sanger or Victory Baptist Church in Groesbeck.
