Miss Carrie A Eaton was the daughter of Rufus J. Eaton, born in Massachusetts and Julia Ann Sampson, born in Massachusetts. She was born in Massachusetts also but came with her family to Dallas Texas in 1878 at the age of 18 years. Her father was a carpenter and contractor. She married Harry C. Boatner, born in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana, a stone cutter in Dallas Texas in 1884. They had a son in 1885, James William Boatner who survived into adulthood and was rised by his grandparents and later lived in Ft Worth, Texas, and is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery there, and a daughter, Gertrude Boatner born November 4, 1886, but died soon after birth on November 20, 1886. It is likely that Carrie, as well as the child, suffered complications due to this birth, and Carrie died soon after her daughter's birth as a young woman of less than 26 years old 8 days after the child was born. The child died 8 days after she did. She and her daughter are buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. They share a tombstone which may have been cut by her husband who was a stone cutter. She and her daughter are the only members of the family buried in the plot with a marked grave. There are likely 6-8 other family members buried in this plot.
