Elmer Roy Buckert, son of Dan and Emma (Kruse) Buckert, was born April 10, 1905, at Nora, Nebraska, and passed away Sunday, June 13, 1993, at his home in Nelson, Nebraska, at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 3 days.

He received his education in a rural school and Nora High School. On January 30, 1927, he was united in marriage to Mildred Hamel. This union was blessed with one son, Darrell.

They made their home in the Nora community. In February 1953 they moved to California, where he was employed as a gardener at Santa Ana High School. Elmer returned to Nebraska in November 1985 to make his home in Nelson. He was a member of the Nora United Methodist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Mildred, on April 11, 1985; and a sister, Nellie Mercer.

Survivors include his son, Darrell and wife Rose Lee; two grandsons, Steven and Gregory and his wife Michelle; and a great granddaughter, Caryn.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 17, 1993, at 11 a.m. from the Nora Methodist Church with Pastor Larry Michael-Rush officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Melba Lynch, playing selections of "Beyond The Sunset" and "In The Garden". Casketbearers will be Don Gebers, Elmer Williams, Walster Williams, Bill Lynch, Dale Frahm, Ralph Lanham, Dennis Lanham and Earl Lanham. Burial will be in the Nora Cemetery. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson is in charge of the arrangements.
