Levi Hughes, 86, retired Woldale District farmer, died here yesterday afternoon. A resident of the Kittitas Valley 27 years, he lived in the Woldale District until two years ago. He was born in Defiance County, Ohio, December 6, 1857. He was married to Ida Bowersock in 1883 at Havana, Kansas and they made their home there until moving to Winlock, Wash., in 1912. They came to Ellensburg in 1916. Mrs. Hughes died August 16, 1918. Fourteen children were born to them, six preceding him in death, two in infancy. He was married to Mrs. Kate Stevens in 1926.

Surviving are his widow; five daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Leathers, Winlock; Mrs. Florence Carpenter, Seattle; Mrs. Lulu Taylor, San Diego and Mrs. Lena Des Voigne and Mrs. Anna Wheeler, Ellensburg; three sons, Paul Hughes, Seattle; and Will and Frank Hughes, Ellensburg; a sister, Mrs. Alice Phillip, Caney, Kansas; 25 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Honeycutt Chapel. Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery.
