Nannie Reece, 100, went to be with the Lord on July 5, 2008.
As a young woman, Nannie learned to drive a Model T Ford and taught eight grades in a one-room school in Kanawha County. Married to Arnold Reece and the mother of three, she became a widow at the age of 61, retired at 65, and then worked two part-time jobs at Mountain State Press and Tiny Tyke Day Care until the age of 87. She taught Sunday school, played the piano, and was active in the Women's Circle at Kanawha City Baptist Church.

Nannie is survived by her children; James Reece and wife, Kathy, of Elyria, Ohio, Tom Reece and wife, Doris, of Kenna, and Margie Reece Legg and husband, Ray, of Dayton, Tenn. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Sandy Reece McMillion and husband, Gary, of Nitro, Gary Reece and wife, Rita, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Beth Reece Desrosiers and husband, Steve, of Tavares, Fla., Kelley Reece Harper and husband, Brian, of Kenna, and Joshua Legg and wife, Hannah, of Chattanooga, Tenn. In addition, Nannie is survived by eight great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, at Bartlett-Burdette-Cox Funeral Home, Charleston. Burial will be in Boy Burdette Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be directed to Gideons International or Kanawha City Baptist Church.
