Mr. Jones, a Newton County native was 63 years old and a member of Starrsville United Methodist Church. He was retired from service as a mail carrier with the U. S. Mail Service. He passed away on June 24, in a private hospital following a very short illness.
Interment was in Starrsville Cemetery with J. C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home in charge.. Serving as pallbearers were Art Booth, Booker Lewis, Lamar Callaway, Jack Walden, Charles Ewing and Mortimer Ewing.
Surviving are a brother, Troy Jones, Waycross; sisters, Mrs. Dimple Aaron, Mrs. Jim Harris, Mrs. Dorothy McCullough, Covington and Mrs. r. L. Dobbs, Social Circle. (Research courtesy of Jane Williams & Newton County Hist. Soc.)
