He grew up on the farm in Trego County. He attended a school for the deaf in Olathe and farmed with his parents and brothers. He retired with his parents in Ellis and entered the Ellis Good Samaritan Center in 1966. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Ellis.
Survivors include nine nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Amelia Steckline; three brothers, Cacheus, Dean and Syl, and an infant brother and sister.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Ellis; burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Wasinger Funeral Chapel, Ellis. A prayer service will at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the Ellis Good Samaritan Center.
